Statistics and Analysis,
Integrated Applications,
Relational Database.
SIR is three systems in one
- relational database
- application development
- reporting and analysis
Relational Database
The built in database manager lets you create and maintain your data safely and securely.
The central description of your database automatically validates all data thus maintaining
data integrity. You can set various levels of password protection for sensitive data. With
a comprehensive set of utilities to copy, subset, merge, backup and restore, you can really
protect your valuable data. If concurrent updating by multiple users is required, this is
coordinated by a single Master process.
Application Development
SIR is intended for people who need to build real applications and includes the tools to help
you do this without the complications of C/C++ and Windows specific code. Procedural Query
Language or PQL is a powerful and versitile fourth generation language which is fully
integrated with the database. PQL is simple to learn yet follows full programming logic for
the most complex applications. Building a custom Windows interface with your own menus and
dialogues is simply a matter of creating a script and letting SIR do the work.
Reporting and Analysis
SIR comes with a full set of tools to extract and analyse your data including two report
generators, one for simple reports and the other for complex, custom reports. There is a
full cross tabulation system plus interfaces to many popular statistical systems for further
statistical analysis.
SQL is part of the system with a menu system to help you build queries quickly and easily.
Full documentation is provided on-line in an extensive cross linked hypertext set of files
which are the equivalent of over 1000 pages of manuals.
If data is worth collecting, it is worth keeping and inevitably over time that means new
hardware and software platforms. SIR has been providing data management tools for twenty
years and we have built portability into the system. If you build a SIR application on one
platform, you can move it all - data, applications, menus, reports - to any other SIR
platform. SIR gives you compatibility from old to new (e.g. from DOS to Windows) and across
current systems (e.g. from Windows to unix and vice versa).
SIR - a solution for today and tomorrow.
