SIR Training and Conference

The SIR UK User Group Committee is pleased to announce two days of Training and Conference covering all aspects of Client-Server Computing with SIR. Topics to be covered will include:

Introduction to Client/Server Computing

  • what is it
  • pros and cons
  • SIR client and server software

Concurrency and Control using SIR/Master

  • concurrency support and development strategies
  • how Master works
  • managing Master
  • transaction processing under SIR

 

Alternatively, for new SIR users there will be

 

 

Introductory Training

  • Database & Record Schema definition

  • PQL
  • Utility functions

Application Independent Access via ODBC and SIR/SQL Server

  • what is ODBC
  • defining ODBC data sources
  • managing SIR SQL Server
  • Using PQL as ODBC client

Dynamic Web Pages with SIR/CGI

  • HTML forms
  • the CGI standard
  • applications development with SIR/CGI

Other suggestions for conference presentations that address the above or SIR related issues are welcomed and should be sent to the address below.

Fees

Full residential rate: £480

Day rate (including dinner) £360.

Both rates will be discounted by 10% if booked and paid for by May 2, 2003.

Institutions booking more than one delegate at the same time will receive an extra 25% discount for the second and subsequent delegates.

All payments for attendees must be received by the 16th June 2003 or the booking will be cancelled. (This is due to the Hotel requiring payment then.)otel H
